When I first saw a billboard for Supportkids, I thought 'There's no hope, why even try?' but I kept the number in my head. After about a week I decided I had nothing to lose and called.

I called because I wanted to let it go, let somebody else do the work for me. I had not been able to get any help from government agencies for six years. I spent so much time and energy trying to get my child support that it took away from what I should have been focusing on – my kids.

The first thing I noticed about Supportkids was the communication and desire to help. Someone actually took an interest in me and my kids. It was a different experience all the way around.

I cried when we got the first check. I was overjoyed. I never thought anyone would care enough to get it. I was able to put money away for my kids' education, and to pay for three years of private school for them.

It was a struggle raising my kids without financial support. I was in survival mode; used to doing without, used to my kids going without. You made me feel like somebody was going to make a difference. You treated me like a real person.
